Adaptive Dance: Music & Movement for Every Body

Bring the joy of Latin music and dance to participants of all mobility levels.

Dance is about more than footwork. It’s about music, rhythm, movement, expression, and connection—experiences that can be enjoyed by people with a wide range of physical abilities.

Danceintime offers engaging adaptive dance programs, in person or online, for people with mobility limitations, including those who use wheelchairs or walkers. Movements are adapted to participants’ abilities and may incorporate hands, arms, shoulders, upper-body movement, or seated movement. We all get the same joy and health benefits from dancing!

What Makes a Dance a Dance?

Dance doesn’t depend on performing a particular step in a particular way. When we connect movement with music and rhythm, we’re dancing. People with very different mobility levels can therefore participate, each in a way that works for them.

Adaptive Cha Cha Video

Danceintime also offers a 20-minute Adaptive Cha Cha video lesson for rental. Participants are guided through the lively rhythms of Cha Cha, with a wide range of movements, adapted for different mobility levels, including people who dance while seated or use wheelchairs or walkers as well as people with full mobility.

The program is well suited for senior and community centers, assisted-living communities, and other organizations seeking inclusive wellness activities.

Danceintime founder Barbara Bernstein (Barb@danceintime.com) brings more than 25 years of experience teaching Latin dance and making movement understandable and enjoyable.

Feel the music. Find your movement. Enjoy the dance.
