DIRECTIONS TO VARIOUS CLASSES, STUDIOS, & STAGES

Note that those in current use for DIT events/classes have names in bold.

Emergence Community Arts Collective (733 Euclid St NW; Washington DC 20001)
By public transportation: Use the Shaw/Howard metro (green line), and come out the Howard University exit, on 7th St. Make a right (north) as you exit the station and walk about 6 blocks to Euclid St, (passing the Howard University on the right.) Or take bus 70 or 71 from the metro station to Euclid St. You can also take express bus 79, which stops at Howard Place about a block south of Euclid. Note, 7th St changes to Georgia Avenue at Florida.

At Euclid St., turn left and go 1/2 block to the ECAC, on your right. It is across the street from Benjamin Banneker High School. The building has steep stairs in front. Enter through the right hand door and walk down the hallway toward the back of the building. The dance studio is through the door at the end of the hallway on the entry level.

(This location is just a little farther from the U St metro stop also, FYI. So you can use that metro stop as well.)

In addition, if you get off metro at the Mt. Vernon Square stop (yellow line), you can also take bus 70 toward Silver Spring. That will take you to the corner of Georgia Av. and Euclid St. The ECAC is on Euclid right near that corner.
For drivers, use mapquest or a GPS to arrive. If you get lost, you can call Sylvia who runs the place at 202-462-2285. Drivers will find parking on Euclid street and there are a some spaces in a small lot behind the building that you can use as well.

Eleanor Pernia Dance Studio
10434 Baltimore Ave (which is Route 1); Beltsville, MD.

Go about three fourths of a mile on Route 1, passing the Department of Agriculture buildings on your left. The studio is located on your left in a building behind a gas station which is either a BP Station or an Amoco. (I thought I saw it marked both ways--maybe it's changing hands.) There is a service road just past the gas station as you head north. You turn left at that service road. (A small shopping center is on your right once you make that turn.) Go up a small hill and there is a small parking lot on your left. Park there and go to the far end of the building which is the entrance to the dance studio.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

From 95
To go there from I95, take exit 29B west on Powder Mill Road (MD 212) and go a mile and a half past 4 traffic lights to the church parking lot on the left. The sign for the church is small and easy to miss. It's maybe a quarter of a mile past Cherry Hill Road as you come down Powder Mill. Once you arrive, there is a large parking lot. Walk to the church following the walkway. At the end of the walkway you face the church. Look to your left and there is another building. Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on the University of Maryland Campus

Get to the College Park area, and drive down University Blvd (this intersects Route 1) which borders the University on one side. If you are coming from 495, the Washington Beltway, you can do this by getting off at Route 1 (Baltimore Blvd) and then turn right at University Blvd (193). From there, turn into the University on Stadium Drive. Coming from Greenbelt or the Route 1 direction, it will be a left onto Stadium Drive. If you were coming down University Blvd. from the Langley Park direction, it's a right onto Stadium Drive.

After turning onto Stadium Drive, the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center is the first building on your right, just a little ways up the street. It's a huge building.

Word to the wise: It's really difficult to find this building if you enter the University from any other entrance, so do enter the University from Stadium Drive.

To park, drive past the performing arts building on Stadium Drive to the end of the block. You will come to a "T intersection" (i.e. Stadium Drive comes to a dead end at this intersection). The lot that you are staring at straight ahead when you get to that intersection is one of the few on campus where visitors can park. (I think it's call lot 1B?) To enter the lot, turn right at the "T intersection" and then make a left into the lot where you see the sign that says "visitors' parking."

This is easy to get to by car as it is close to the Baltimore Beltway's Frederick Rd. exit.
You can also get there by public transportation. The Maryland Transit Administration (http://mta.maryland.gov/) operates buses in Baltimore, and Bus #10 goes right past the studio. El Golfo's Restaurant
8739 Flower Ave; Silver Spring, MD 20901

This is on Flower Avenue in Silver Spring, essentially next door to where the old Flower Theater was. It is right by the intersection of Flower and Piney Branch Road, which means it's between Takoma Park and Langley Park. There is parking at the end of the block that is free.

Habana Village
This is a long standing Latin restaurant and club at 1834 Columbia Rd NW in DC.  Be aware that parking can be difficult on weekends especially.  But there is a lot at the corner and across the street from Habana that is pretty reasonable if you don't have a large car.  (It's quite expensive for large cars although those are very hard to park otherwise!)  The club is right near the intersection on 18th and Columbia Rd NW in the heart of Adams Morgan.
